Growing Things

Since I have published the book has been a best seller on Amazon, now it is also a non-fiction best seller on All Romance. It really was a labor of love to write the book, to research the material and to go over the previous years gardening results. I really love my garden, spending time in it and getting my hands dirty.

I'm very pleased with how that title has done so far and I'm really just amazed also. I just never imagined that it would do what it has and I'm very humbled. Everyone that has gotten the book I hope has enjoyed it and been able to enrich their lives with a lot of beauty and life. There's nothing quite like walking over to your rose bush and see that bud as it's opening to become a gorgeous flower that touches your soul. Bee's buzzing from flower to flower will make you smile. Taking a walk along a row and seeing those first sprouts as they're breaking the surface, it's just an amazing experience.

I hope that everyone is able to make the beauty of a garden an important part of their life.

Camp NaNoWriMo

I will be working in this writing workshop on From Afar. I'll try to get the rest of the book written in the next 30 days. Might just be getting a little busy.

Historical Fiction

I was just going over some of the manuscript for "From Afar" that I've already been working on. It's amazing to me how many changed since that time. I'm writing this blog post on a piece of technology that had its infancy in those days with the first computers. Cell phones didn't exist and it was difficult to call someone in another country. When you got the news it was sometimes weeks after the event happened. You had radios but they weren't exactly something that was very portable. The TV that you were probably watching this evening also had its infancy around the time of the 1939 World's Fair.

A large portion of book sales then were via mail, there were local book stores though you were limited on what they carried at that moment. Its quite different now, when I want a book all I have to do is open the browser on my Blackberry in a few moments after buying it I'm reading the book. That's incredible, back in 1945 they would have probably looked amazed and made some comment about "Dick Tracy".

My review for Perfection Unleashed (Book 1) by Jade Kerrion

4* Great sophomore effort.

Quite an interesting story of the mutant and human interactions. It makes it a different tale than most. I'm finding it quite frankly, hard to put down.

At the same time, quite often I was getting pulled out of the story but not ever enough to put me off completely. The story has kept drawing me back into it. Considering its her first novel I can't wait to see what she'll come out with in the future. Jade is going to be quite the powerhouse in the future in my opinion, she's definitely very gifted.
