I just ran a promotion with the 21 days book and normally I see no responses to the book.

This promotion was different.

One of the promotion spots was on Kindle Korner.

Rory Anderson ~ Thanks for sharing this, right now I loathe my job with every fiber of my being and being a new "indie author" isn't paying like I thought it would :o)

Revising

One thing that applies to writing resumes and books is to thoroughly revise either. Take your time, take frequent breaks so that you can have the best resume. There really isn't any other way to do it to be successful.

Weather and the job hunt

I'm looking out of the window at the falling snow today. There isn't much snow falling and it's not accumulating thankfully. This brought me to thinking about how changeable the weather can be this time of year. You need to be prepared for all different weather conditions as you go out on your job hunts.
An umbrella is a useful thing to have, they go well with most interview clothes especially suits. So that you can maximize your umbrella purchase I recommend getting a better quality one. Mine is a Tote's all wind-proof one not that I'm endorsing Tote's umbrella's. The cheap ones do not last and mine came from a second-hand store so I didn't buy it new.
You need to also expect occasional rain falls this time of year. The last thing you need is to show up to the interview soaked through and through. Can you imagine the impression it will make when you hand them your completely soaked resume? So, like always, you need to be prepared also for more extreme weather. Even though they are probably better to have I don't recommend wearing a rain suit or poncho to an interview.

Free online e-book library

There is an online library where you can check out ebooks including my job hunting books. This is something that is free so check it out today.

BookLending.com

They allow you to check out up to three books at a time and I personally have made 21 different books available in the library. Soon, I'll be adding a few more as I have a lot of author friends.

These are Kindle editions also I would like to note, there are apps readily available from Amazon for your PC, Android, Blackberry, iPad and many others if you do not have a Kindle.

Daily writing

While you are hunting for a job you need to be writing something daily. It doesn't need to be much, just write something. Maybe about 50-100 words per day. This is about the length of a cover letter in many cases. What you'll end up doing is improving your typing speed and you'll be able to write everything more effectively. Make sure you are looking for spelling and syntax errors in everything you write including in your daily practice sessions. That way you can avoid them in the future. Have a great day and I wish you the greatest success.

Free job hunting books

I would like to take this time to let everyone know about is the free job hunting books that are available on Amazon. Many are quite helpful and you don't need a Kindle necessarily, you can read a Kindle book in the PC, Android, iPhone and Blackberry apps which makes them ultra portable. Another nice thing is that when each of the devices the apps are on is connected to the web they all will sync with each other. I personally have a Kindle, the PC and the Blackberry apps. All of the apps are available on Amazon for free just for the download. You'll probably also have to create an Amazon account if you don't have one already.

The ones in the column to the right are free, the ones to the left will cost you. I really do hope this helps you and I recommend bookmarking the link that I've included.

Growing Things

I began working on a gardening book that will be called "Growing Things: An Urban Garden". I'm rather excited by this project and have been very busy working on it and making very good progress on it. I've already completed a lot of the preliminary work on the Kindle book and have a bit of it written. I'm not quite sure yet if I'll be producing a paperback or not yet but I'll be deciding that later.
Presently, we are getting our home garden started. I'm so looking forward to planting the vegetable seeds. There's nothing quite like getting your hands dirty when you are working the soil. Even better is when you are sitting on your porch watching the bees buzzing around from flower to flower. I'm so looking forward to that in another couple of months :-)
